Highly Sensitive Person Checklist: Common Traits and Characteristics

HSP checklist of common traits that are often associated with HSPs:

  1. Highly sensitive to stimuli in the environment, including sensory information, emotions, and social interactions

  2. Easily overwhelmed by loud noises, bright lights, or strong smells

  3. Deeply empathetic and compassionate towards others

  4. High levels of emotional awareness and depth of feeling

  5. Easily affected by the moods and emotions of others

  6. Highly intuitive and perceptive

  7. Tend to be perfectionists and pay attention to details

  8. Highly creative and imaginative

  9. Sensitive to criticism and negative feedback

  10. Prefer to take their time and think things through before making decisions

It is important to note that not everyone who exhibits these traits will necessarily be classified as an HSP. This trait is thought to be genetically influenced, and it is believed that about 15-20% of the population has a high sensitivity personality.
